The factor 1 m² ≈ 10.7639 ft² is not exact; it is a six-significant-figure rounding of the irrational quotient 1/0.09290304 = 10.7639104167…. The exact relationship runs the other way: 1 ft² is exactly 0.09290304 m². This calculator tags every result with an "exact" badge when both the source and target are defined by exact factors — which, for the area set, is every pair, because squaring an exact rational always yields another exact rational.

How to Convert Between Area Units

Every area conversion is one multiplication and one division through the square metre. The general formula is:
