HSR warp calculator. Your exact odds of pulling the featured 5★ character or Light Cone.

An HSR warp calculator tells you the exact probability of pulling the featured 5★ within your warp budget. It handles the 0.6% character base rate, the 0.8% Light Cone rate, soft pity, hard pity, the 50/50 on characters, and the 75/25 on Light Cones — both with the lose-next-win-after failsafe.

What is the Honkai: Star Rail pity system?

The Honkai: Star Rail pity system is the set of guarantees HoYoverse bakes into each Warp banner so you never pull forever without a 5★. Every warp has a small flat base rate until you hit soft pity, where the rate ramps sharply, and a hard pity that forces a 5★ on a specific warp. On top of that, event banners add a featured split that decides whether the 5★ you pulled is the current banner unit or a standard one.
The Character Event Warp runs on 0.6% base rate, soft pity around warp 75, hard pity at warp 90, and a 50/50 featured split with a failsafe: lose the 50/50 and your next 5★ is guaranteed to be the featured character. Two hard-pity cycles (180 warps) will always give you the featured character.
The Light Cone Event Warp, called Brilliant Fixation, uses different numbers: 0.8% base rate, soft pity around warp 65, hard pity at warp 80, and a 75/25 split in favor of the featured Light Cone. Per ONE Esports' breakdown of the HSR pity system, if you lose the 75/25 the next 5★ Light Cone is guaranteed to be the featured one, capping the worst case at 160 warps. The Stellar Warp (standard banner) has no featured concept — every 5★ comes from the permanent pool.
One thing HSR does not have is Genshin's Capturing Radiance — the hidden mechanic that quietly nudges a lost 50/50 back toward the featured unit. In Honkai: Star Rail the 50/50 is a clean coin flip, full stop, so the featured odds this calculator reports are exactly what you face in-game with no hidden upside. That makes the worst-case ceilings (180 warps on character, 160 on Light Cone) the only real guarantees, which is why every serious HSR budget is built around them.

How HSR's warp pity system actually works

Warping in Honkai: Star Rail is not a flat lottery — the game hides a pity counter and pairs it with a featured-unit coin flip. There are four moving parts, and understanding them is what turns "can I afford this character?" into an actual plan.
The base rate and the pity counter. Every warp on the Character Event Warp has a flat 0.6% chance of a 5★, and that number stays put for your first 74 warps. The game silently tracks your pity — the number of warps since your last 5★ — and resets it to 0 the instant any 5★ drops, featured or not. The Light Cone Event Warp (Brilliant Fixation) uses a higher 0.8% base rate, which is why its hard pity sits lower.
Soft pity — the part that actually carries you. From warp 75 on the character banner the per-warp rate stops being flat and ramps hard: it jumps to roughly 6.6% at warp 75 and climbs by about 6% each warp after that — 12.6% at warp 76, 18.6% at warp 77, and so on until it reaches 100% at warp 90. This is why most 5★s land in the high 70s to mid 80s and almost nobody actually sees warp 90. On the Light Cone banner the ramp starts earlier and steeper: warp 65 opens at about 8.8% and climbs roughly 8% per warp, hitting 100% at warp 80. Stopping a session at pity 60 throws away the single most valuable stretch of the curve.
Hard pity — the safety net. If you somehow miss every roll through soft pity, warp 90 on the character/standard banner (warp 80 on Light Cone) is a 100% guaranteed 5★. You can never warp past it without a 5★.
The 50/50 and its failsafe (character). Hitting a 5★ is only half the battle on the Character Event Warp — you then flip a clean coin. Win, and it is the featured character. Lose, and you get a random standard 5★ instead, but the game banks that loss: your very next 5★ on the event banner is forced to be the featured unit. That is the "guaranteed" state. So the true worst case to lock a specific character is two full cycles — up to 90 warps to trigger the first 5★, then up to 90 more where the failsafe forces the featured — which is the 180-warp ceiling everyone quotes. Your guaranteed status carries across consecutive Character Event Warps, so a 50/50 you lost last patch is still banked for the next featured character you chase.
The Light Cone's 75/25 and its failsafe. Brilliant Fixation swaps the even coin flip for a 75/25 split tilted toward the featured Light Cone, but the failsafe logic is the same: lose the 75/25 and the next 5★ Light Cone is forced to be the featured one. Because the odds are better and the cycle is shorter (80 warps), the worst-case ceiling lands at 160 warps instead of 180.
Unlike Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail has no Capturing Radiance equivalent — the 50/50 and 75/25 are exactly as published, with no hidden correction nudging losing streaks back in your favor. This calculator runs those published splits directly over a per-warp probability curve, so the featured odds it shows are the real, unembellished numbers.

How to use this HSR warp calculator

The tool opens on the Character Event Warp because that is what most players plan around. To read your own odds, fill in four things:
1. Pick your banner. Character Event Warp, Light Cone Event Warp (Brilliant Fixation), or Stellar Warp (standard). Pity is tracked separately for each, so warping on Light Cone never touches your character pity — and the banner choice alone swings your odds, since the character banner ramps at 75 and caps at 90 while the Light Cone banner ramps at 65 and caps at 80.
2. Enter your current pity. This is the number of warps since your last 5★, featured or not — the counter resets to 0 on every 5★. Check it in-game under Warp → Details → History and count back if you are unsure. A fresh banner starts at 0.
3. Set the guaranteed toggle. Turn it on if you lost your last featured roll (your previous 5★ on this banner was an off-banner standard unit). The calculator then treats your next 5★ as guaranteed featured. On the Light Cone banner the toggle reflects whether your 75/25 failsafe is already banked.
4. Enter your warp budget. Type warps directly, or convert from Stellar Jade at 160 Stellar Jade = 1 warp. So 16,000 Stellar Jade is 100 warps. You can also add Special Passes you already own — subtract those before converting Jade so you do not double-count.
The calculator then returns the chance of landing the featured 5★ within your budget, the chance of any 5★, the expected warps to your first featured, and the worst-case warps. A verdict chip translates the raw percentage into a plain read — from "very unlikely" through "coin flip" and "very likely" up to "guaranteed" — and a chart shows how your odds build warp by warp, so you can see exactly how many more warps push you past your comfort line.

HSR warp examples

Character banner, pity 0, 90 warps, 50/50 active

You start from pity 0 with exactly one hard-pity cycle (90 warps) and the 50/50 still active. P(any 5★) is 100% because you are guaranteed to hit hard pity inside 90 warps. The chance that 5★ is the featured character is 59% — you win the straight coin flip about half the time, and because most first 5★s land in the high 70s to mid 80s, there is real room left in your 90 warps for a second 5★ that the failsafe would force to be featured. The calculator puts the expected warps to a featured character at roughly 94, so a single 90-warp save is a coin flip in your favor — solid, but not a lock.

Light Cone banner, pity 0, 80 warps

Eighty warps guarantee at least one 5★ Light Cone via hard pity, so P(any 5★) is 100%. The 75/25 split then decides whether that 5★ is the featured Light Cone. P(featured) is 81% — the base 75% plus a boost from the cases where you pull an early 5★ and still have warps left for the failsafe to force the featured one. That is a strong number for a single cycle, but it is not a guarantee: if you must have the Light Cone, you have to budget two cycles.

Light Cone banner, 160 warps — the strict guarantee

160 warps is the worst-case guarantee for the featured Light Cone. Two full hard-pity cycles of 80 warps each give you at least two 5★ Light Cones; if the first is not the featured one, the 75/25 failsafe locks the second as featured. P(featured) = 100% at 160 warps, which is why community guides quote "160 warps = guaranteed Light Cone." Budget this if the Light Cone is a signature multiplier your main DPS cannot run without.

Character banner, pity 60, lost last 50/50, 40 warps

You sit at pity 60 on the Character banner with 40 warps left, and you lost the previous 50/50, so the guaranteed toggle is on — your next 5★ is forced to be the featured character. From pity 60 the worst case to trigger a 5★ is 30 warps (hard pity at 90), which is comfortably inside your 40-warp budget, and the banked guarantee means that 5★ has to be featured. The calculator reports 100% for the featured 5★ — a flat lock. This is the safest spot in the whole system: deep pity plus a banked guarantee is the textbook free featured character.

Notice featured odds lag well behind any-5★ odds the whole way: hitting a 5★ is only half the job on the character banner, and 180 warps is the worst-case ceiling that guarantees the featured unit. Use the 180-warp row as your "I must have this character" budget.

Warp-saving strategies

  • Commit to the 180-warp character budget before you start warping. Two full cycles are the only mathematical guarantee for a featured 5★ character, and stopping at 90 after losing the 50/50 is the most common way F2P accounts run dry mid-banner.
  • On the Light Cone banner, plan for 160 warps when the Light Cone is a must-have signature for your main DPS. One cycle (80 warps) gives you 81% odds — fine for quality-of-life Light Cones, risky for the DPS multipliers that carry your entire team.
  • Always push through soft pity. Stopping at pity 60 wastes the steepest part of the curve. From warp 75 your per-warp odds climb by roughly 6% each warp on the character banner, so the last fifteen warps of a cycle carry most of your expected 5★ probability. Budget for the full cycle or do not start.
  • Treat a lost 50/50 or 75/25 as banked value, not a loss. Your next featured 5★ on that banner is now guaranteed, and that guarantee carries to future banners of the same type. Two cycles is the ceiling, and most runs finish well short of it.
  • Read the verdict as a planning signal, not a promise. Below 40% you are gambling, not planning — push your budget higher or skip to the next banner. Most players treat 70% as the comfortable threshold for a single-banner pull, and the chip only reads "guaranteed" near 100%.
  • Convert currency carefully. Stellar Jade goes at 160 Jade per warp. Subtract the Special Passes you already own first, then convert the remaining Jade — otherwise you double-count currency the tool pulls from both sources.
  • Do not warp reactively on the Stellar Warp. It has no featured unit, no 50/50, and no failsafe — every 5★ is a random permanent-pool unit. Spend Star Rail Passes there only when they are sitting unused.
  • Trust your in-game Warp History over any tracker, including this one. Open Warp → Details → History and count back to your last 5★ for your exact pity. The calculator is only as accurate as the pity number you type in.
  • Losing the 50/50 to another standard 5★ stings, but the failsafe banks it — your next featured pull is locked. Do not rage-stop at pity 90 and waste a banked guarantee.

Frequently asked questions about HSR warps

How many pulls for a 5★ in Honkai: Star Rail?

Hard pity on the Character banner is 90 warps and on the Light Cone banner is 80 warps. Soft pity starts around warp 75 (Character) or 65 (Light Cone), where the drop rate climbs sharply. The average first 5★ lands in the high 70s to mid 80s.

Does the Light Cone banner have a 50/50?

No, it has a 75/25. Every 5★ Light Cone has a 75% chance to be the featured one. If you lose the 75/25, the next 5★ Light Cone is guaranteed to be the featured one, so the worst case is 160 warps total.

What is the soft pity start in HSR?

Warp 75 on the Character Event Warp and Stellar Warp, and warp 65 on the Light Cone Event Warp. From that warp onward the 5★ rate ramps roughly 6% per warp on the character banner and 8% per warp on the Light Cone banner until it hits 100%.

Is HSR pity shared across banners?

No. Character, Light Cone, and Stellar Warp pity counters are completely independent. Pity does carry over between consecutive Light Cone Event Warps, and the same is true for Character banners, but the three types never mix.

How many warps to guarantee the featured 5★ character?

180 warps. One hard-pity cycle (90 warps) covers the case where you win the 50/50, and a second cycle (another 90 warps) covers the failsafe if you lose the first 50/50. At 180 warps the probability of getting the featured character is 100%.

How many warps to guarantee the featured Light Cone?

160 warps. Two hard-pity cycles of 80 warps guarantee two 5★ Light Cones; if the first is not the featured one, HoYoverse's failsafe locks the second as the featured Light Cone. At 160 warps the probability is 100%.

Does HSR have Capturing Radiance like Genshin?

No. Capturing Radiance is a Genshin Impact mechanic that quietly nudges a lost 50/50 toward the featured unit. Honkai: Star Rail has no equivalent — the 50/50 is a clean coin flip, so the featured odds this calculator shows are exactly what you face in-game with no hidden upside.

Is this HSR warp calculator accurate?

Yes. It uses the published base rates (0.6% character, 0.8% Light Cone), the soft and hard pity thresholds, and the featured splits, then computes featured odds analytically over every (pity, guaranteed) state rather than simulating. The only thing it leaves out is any hidden mechanic — and HSR has none, so the numbers are exact.

Is the calculator free?

Yes. No sign-up, no tracking, no data sent to a server. Everything runs in your browser and your pity values stay on your device.

My result shows 59% featured — is that a good number?

59% is a coin flip with a slight edge — typical of a single 90-warp cycle from pity 0. Most HSR guides recommend saving enough to reach at least 75%, which on the Character banner means around 140 warps from pity 0 with the 50/50 active. Below 50% you are in pure gamble territory.

HSR warp glossary

Warp

The HSR name for a single pull on a banner. One warp costs 160 Stellar Jade or 1 Special Pass / Star Rail Pass.

Pity

The counter of warps since your last 5★. Banner-scoped and persists across patches on the same banner type.

Soft pity

The ramp in 5★ drop rate that starts at warp 75 (Character) or 65 (Light Cone). Most 5★s drop inside this range.

Hard pity

The guaranteed-5★ warp at pity 90 (Character / Stellar) or 80 (Light Cone).

50/50

The 50% chance a 5★ pulled on the Character Event Warp is the featured character. Losing it guarantees the next 5★ is featured — a clean coin flip with no Capturing Radiance correction.

75/25

The 75% chance a 5★ pulled on the Light Cone Event Warp (Brilliant Fixation) is the featured Light Cone. Losing it guarantees the next 5★ Light Cone is featured, capping the worst case at 160 warps.

Brilliant Fixation

The official name of the Light Cone Event Warp. It carries the 0.8% base rate, soft pity at warp 65, hard pity at warp 80, and the 75/25 featured split.

Stellar Jade

HSR's base premium currency. 160 Stellar Jade = 1 warp.

Special Pass

Event warp ticket used on the Character or Light Cone Event Warp. 1 Pass = 1 warp.
